Do you know what my favourite part of the game is?
The opportunity to play, and if at first I don't succeed, I try and try again.

Umpires

Our Centre offers some exciting opportunities for umpires, starting with our junior whistlers, social league netball, through to Centre, Zone and then New Zealand qualifications.

Our senior teams (Premier to Grade 3) are required to umpire as part of team duty but we have a group of umpires that are umpiring as that is their passion – to control the game.  Most of our current umpires are working toward the next qualification or maintaining it, and within the Marlborough Umpires group, we have mentors and coaches to help.  You are welcome to talk to any of them about learning more or how to get qualified.  You might want an umpire come to your training session to teach your players and do a rules session.

Our Game Officials Convenor is Michelle Stagg.  The weekly umpires draw is compiled by Jan Gallop.

We are always looking for new umpires and we can offer support and mentoring, so you do not need experience. Our aim is to introduce more young umpires to begin on the pathway. If you are interested in becoming an umpire or your club would like some assistance in coaching your team umpires, please contact the convenor, Michelle Stagg or the netball office.

Netball New Zealand has some great resources for umpires.

Centre Theory Test (which is a requirement for our senior teams in Premier – Senior Grade 3) need to be completed by the 4th game in the first round.  Click here to do the test online and print out the certificate and hand in to the Umpires room on Saturday or the netball office.
